Removing that damn screw from the rotor!

So you go to do your brakes and end up pulling your hair out because of a stinkin' screw that is holding the rotor to the hub. Why is it there (to keep the rotor from falling off during asm. is my guess). Now how do I remove it. I don't have one of those nice impact screw drivers. Well here is a real simple trick I've been using for a few years. You will need just 3 very simple tools.
So here is the evil screw. It is kind of hard to see, but this one is about stripped out, a real problem. Loads of rust doesn't make it look any better.
Take the ball of the small hammer and rest it up against the head of the screw. Center the little hammer up as best you can. Then with the large hammer, hit the smaller hammer with some really good hard whacks. *CLANK*!! Do this about 3 or 4 times.
When you get done doing the hammer blows, chances are you will close up the "+" slot in the screw some. Just line up the phillips screw driver and use the large hammer to hammer the screw driver back into the slot, then simply remove your screw.

It may take a little effort to get the screw to break loose after the hammer trick, and sometimes it is already loose after you do the hammer trick. I've left the screw out when done with the brakes. The only problem that will cause is as you try to line the lug holes up on the wheel with the threads, the rotor may turn some covering up the threads. On my personal Jetta this is not a problem because I've converted to studs, something I highly suggest since the wheels don't fall off when you remove the last lug, and it make putting the wheels back on soo much easier.

Why should you send a postcard? Because it is cheap to do and as we all know, the US Post Office is funding it's Super Muntant Army Project with fees from postcards stamps. I would really like to see a Super Muntant Army deliever my mail in the near future.
Thank you.
